Do You Have a Sixth Sense?
Have you ever had the feeling that something was about to happen—before it actually did? Or sensed that someone you care about was in trouble, even from miles away?
You’re not alone.
Growing up in the 1960s, I was taught to be cautious of anything out of the ordinary. The mysterious was often labeled as “supernatural,” and in Western society, that meant it was something to be feared or dismissed. But the older I get, the more I wonder: why is this topic still considered so taboo?
The truth is, we all have a sixth sense. Society and even science may try to downplay it, but our own experiences suggest otherwise.

Everyday Signs of a Sixth Sense
You might recognize these moments:
- A sudden sense of knowing something before it happens.
- Feeling that a loved one is in pain or needs help—without any visible sign.
- Sending positive or healing intentions to someone and noticing a shift in their energy.
- Moments of deep connection, where you feel part of something much bigger than yourself.
- A quiet, unshakable inner truth that love is at the core of everything.
Sound familiar? If you’ve ever had a gut feeling, a dream that came true, or a moment where time seemed to slow down—you’ve likely touched on this intuitive knowing.
What Science is Starting to Reveal
Even though these experiences might feel personal or even “out there,” science is slowly catching up. Studies on presentiment show that both humans and animals can react to events before they happen. Our nervous system, it turns out, may sense future occurrences.
I remember going through a rough patch in the late 1990s. I lived 250 miles from my mother, yet she somehow knew I was struggling. She would call at odd hours, saying she just felt something was wrong. Many people have experienced this kind of deep, invisible connection with someone they love.
MRI and EEG studies have also begun to validate this. In one experiment, a person sits inside an MRI scanner while their partner is in another room receiving mild stimuli, like a flash of light. Astonishingly, the person in the scanner shows a brain response—despite no direct contact. It’s as if our brains are wired for connection beyond physical space.
And there’s more. Research into distant intentionality suggests that our focused intentions can influence others. Some studies even show changes in brain activity or heart rhythms when someone receives healing thoughts or compassionate energy from afar.
What If We’re More Than Our Bodies?
Modern physics has opened the door to some extraordinary ideas. Subatomic particles like electrons can exist in multiple places at once—until they are observed. It raises the question: are we also more than we appear to be? Could our essence—our consciousness—exist beyond the boundaries of our body?
People who’ve had transcendental experiences or near-death experiences (NDEs) often describe a sense of being everywhere at once, connected to all things. They report feeling vast, limitless, and completely at peace. And they nearly always return with the same message: Love is the reason we are here.
Why Love Might Be the Answer
We are wired for love. Biologically, emotionally, and spiritually, we seek it. If consciousness truly extends beyond the body—if “we” are everywhere—then maybe the love we feel in others is a reflection of ourselves, our shared essence shining through.
This perspective brings deeper meaning to life. If we are more than just skin and bones—if we have abilities we’ve only begun to understand—then perhaps the best thing we can do is live with love in mind.
A Simple Challenge for Today
Try this: send out kind thoughts to those around you. It’s easier than you think. With intention, it becomes a habit—and one that can transform your day, your relationships, and your inner world.
And don’t worry if you stumble. Life is textured, full of ups and downs. What matters is that we keep showing up with heart. Each time we think kindly of others, we not only uplift them—we uplift ourselves.
Because ultimately, peace and joy aren’t something we find “out there.” They begin in the thoughts we think, the energy we give, and the love we choose to share.
So… do you have a sixth sense?
Maybe the real question is: Have you allowed yourself to trust it?
